The English Bassbaritone Timothy Edlin started his musical education as a chorister in Canterbury Cathedral before later studying at the Royal College of Music in London. Between 2019-2021 he was a member of the OpernStudio NRW (North Rhine Westphalia). Since 2025-26 season he has been a member of the ensemble at Stadttheater Bremerhaven while alongside performing international engagements.

Highlights in the season 26-27 include the operatic roles; Walter (Luisa Miller), Kecal (The Bartered Bride) and the title role from Handel’s Hercules with Stadttheater Bremerhaven a well as the role of Farasmane from Handel’s Radamisto with Musik Theater an der Wien and the King (For the Love of Three Oranges) with Saarländisches Staatstheater Saarbrücken.

This season Timothy will also make his debut as a guest soloist with the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra under Masaaki Suzuki with a tour of Bach’s St Matthew Passion in the UK and the USA with venues including St Martin-in-the-Fields in London and Carnegie Hall in New York.

Previous operatic highlights include; Achilla (Giulio Cesare by Händel), La Rocca (Un Giorno di Regnoby Verdi) and the title role from Paisiello’s Il Re Teodoro in Venezia with Gelsenkirchen MiR; Il Sagrestano (Tosca) and Borella (Die Stumme von Portici) with Oper Dortmund; Sprecher and 2. Geharnischter (Die Zauberflöte), Johann (Werther) with Opera Wuppertal; Araldo (Il Canto s’attrista, perché? by Salvatore Sciarrino), with Stadttheater Klagenfurt; Petrucci (Lucrezia Borgia by Donizetti) with Aalto Theater Essen; Abbot (Britten’s Curlew River) with Theater Aachen; Doctor Grenvil (La Traviata), Capellio (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) and Judge Turpin (Sweeney Todd) with Stadttheater Bremerhaven and the roles of Timagene from Handel‘s Poro (concertante), as well as Das Portrait from Martinu‘s Twice Alexander with Musik Theater an der Wien.

As a sought after oratorio and concert singer Timothy has performed as a soloist in numerous internationally prestigious venues including; the Wigmore Hall and Royal Festival Hall in London, Boston Symphony Hall, Palau de la Música in Barcelona, Opera City Concert Hall in Tokyo, the Philharmonie Essen, Kölner Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Dortmund, the Chapel of King’s College Cambridge as well as appearing live on Radio 3 from the BBC studios.

Timothy is an active song and lieder singer, featuring previously as a recital artist with performances as part of the Three Palace Festival in Malta, Deal Festival for the Arts and the Lichfield Festival in the UK.

Der englische Bassbariton Timothy Edlin begann seine musikalische Ausbildung als Chorsänger in Canterbury Cathedral, bevor er am Royal College of Music in London studierte. Von 2019 bis 2021 war er Mitglied des Opernstudios NRW. Seit der Spielzeit 2025/26 gehört er zum Ensemble des Stadttheaters Bremerhaven und nimmt nebenbei weitere internationale Engagements wahr.

Zu den Höhepunkten der Spielzeit 2026/27 zählen die Opernpartien; Walter (Luisa Miller), Kecal (Die verkaufte Braut) und die Titelrolle in Händels Hercules am Stadttheater Bremerhaven sowie die Rolle des Farasmane in Händels Radamisto am MusikTheater an der Wien und die des Königs in Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen am Saarländischen Staatstheater Saarbrücken.

In dieser Spielzeit gibt Timothy zudem sein Debüt als Gastsolist beim The Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra unter der Leitung von Masaaki Suzuki im Rahmen einer Tournee mit Bachs Matthäus Passion durch Großbritannien und die USA; dabei tritt er unter anderem in St Martin-in-the-Fields (London) und der Carnegie Hall (New York) auf.

Am Stadttheater Bremerhaven übernahm er Partien wie Doktor Grenvil (La Traviata), Capellio (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) und Richter Turpin (Sweeney Todd); zudem sang er Timagene in Händels Poro (konzertant) sowie die Rolle des Porträts in Martinůs Zweimal Alexander am MusikTheater an der Wien.

Als gefragter Oratorien- und Konzertsänger trat Timothy solistisch an zahlreichen international renommierten Veranstalteten auf, darunter die Wigmore Hall und die Royal Festival Hall in London, die Boston Symphony Hall, der Palau de la Música in Barcelona, die Opera City Concert Hall in Tokio, die Philharmonie Essen, die Kölner Philharmonie, das Konzerthaus Dortmund und die Kapelle des King’s College Cambridge; Außerdem trat er live aus den BBC-Studios auf Radio 3 auf.

Timothy ist ein aktiver Liedsänger, der zuvor als Rezitalkünstler bei Auftritten im Rahmen des Three Palace Festivals in Malta, des Deal Festival for the Arts und des Lichfield Festivals in Großbritannien aufgetreten ist.
